![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Even in some really great books by very very good authors some of their plot lines get left dangling and forgotten, but not in this book or the other Karis Walsh books I've read (Mounting Danger especially). Walsh just seems to understand people/humanity so well. Also in her books everything seems to have a purpose. And of course Lenae and Cara were extremely well drawn. Cara's parents were suitably crazy making. And as usual Walsh's characters were amazing as well. Each of them had their own personalities just like the human characters in the book. In addition to Pickwick, who was a hilariously cute puppy, there was Baxter, Lenae's Guide Dog and there were the other dogs at the training school too. (I love all the dog names in this book). The main thing I liked about this book were the dogs. ![]() Her family is a bit famous and after Cara does a piece for her show on Lenae's school her father manages to help get them even more intertwined by getting Cara a weekly spot on the local news that spotlights her being a puppy walker for one of Lenae's puppies, Pickwick. And Cara has a local TV show that highlights people and places in their Washington State community (somewhere near Puget Sound) that are doing great things. Lenae is a Guide Dog trainer at a newish guide dog school. ![]() ![]() I’ve read a lot of this author’s books and enjoyed them, but I can honestly say this one was a waste of my time and a precious credit. It just made easy targets of vegans and made a false depiction of what psychologists actually do. There was a lot of negative stereotypes about both vegan food and psychologists in the book which I found unnecessary and cliche (I’m neither a psychologist or a vegan by the way) with the usual references to ‘rabbit food’ and being constantly ‘psychoanalysed’ being boring, predictable and unnecessary, without any meaningful addition to the story. The depiction of Steph’s parents as patronising, vegan psychologists was a bit lame as well. The usual, ‘Someone died and it’s all my fault’ theme when in actuality the death wasn’t even remotely her fault. A chance encounter lands her the perfect apartment close to the comedy. Ray’s ‘emotional trauma’ was self indulgent, predictable and boring. The Roommate Arrangement - Jae - Google Books Comedian Stephanie Renshaw hopes to finally get her big break in LA. Parts of the book dragged on without anything really happening. The concept of the story is okay, but it’s delivery was pretty dull to be honest. ![]() ![]() The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.
